“In a micro-community of a six floor walk-up, one resident is often ridiculously sickly, another cares more for others than herself, while next door a man lives quietly tucked away behind a camera & a woman measures her worth by finding herself in front of it. Along the winding pictures of their lives we visually and sonically experience the distorting, delicate nature of their world illustrated by an installation-like set with projections and original music. ‘The World Under the Magnifying Glass’, or ‘Glassy’ for short, is a sequence of snapshots capturing four neighbors moving through private fragilities, and together practicing a muscular hope.”
On Glassy, I had the privilege of collaborating with Asta Trivedi to write both language and music for poems that took place in between scenes. Looking at many different forms of recorded spoken word storytelling, I decided to focus in on using synth and vocal production to help tell these stories.
